Special public seminars are held throughout the year for patients, families, friends, and the community to provide further support and additional education about anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, dysfunctional eating patterns, body image distortion, substance abuse and mental health concerns.
The largest of these seminars include the Long Island Conference on Eating Disorders which is a full day seminar held at a local university and sponsored by ED-180 and a host of treatment centers from across the U.S. This seminar brings nationally acclaimed eating disorder experts to the Long Island area to present on an array of eating disorder topics. Seminars are held at the ED-180 offices, at the conference center in the 400 building and at times at larger venues. Many seminars are free or have a small charitable donation for participating organizations, but a reservation is usually required as space is limited.
