  • Public Seminars

Special public seminars are held throughout the year for patients, families, friends, and the community to provide further support and additional education about anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, dysfunctional eating patterns, body image distortion, substance abuse and mental health concerns.

logo2The largest of these seminars include the Long Island Conference on Eating Disorders which is a full day seminar held at a local university and sponsored by ED-180 and a host of treatment centers from across the U.S. This seminar brings nationally acclaimed eating disorder experts to the Long Island area to present on an array of eating disorder topics. The conference is free to all who pre-register. For more information visit the conference website at www.EatingDisorderConference.com.

Additional seminars are presented by the ED-180 team throughout the year often in coordination with other eating disorder organizations. Topics include:

    • What to “Do and Don’t” with Someone Suffering with an Eating Disorder.
    • Insight: Stories from Patients who are Suffering, In Recovery, and Recovered.
    • How ED Treatment Works: Setting Expectations.
    • Working with Insurance Companies and Paying for ED Treatment.
    • How to Help Someone Who Doesn’t Want Help.

Seminars are held at the ED-180 offices, at the conference center in the 400 building and at times at larger venues. Interested parties should check the ED-180.com website for announcements and subscribe for email notifications. Many seminars are free or have a small charitable donation for participating organizations, but a reservation is usually required as space is limited.
