The ED-180 medical suite has a Yen-like look yet is a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art medical room for physical exams, blood pressure monitoring, EKG testing, metabolic testing, electronic and caliper BMI measurements, computerized psychological testing, qualitative EEG, an automated external defibrillator (AED), and more.
The “Mosaic Room” is a unique dining room to shatter negative connotations with food and eating. The contemporary kitchen and cool room design also offers features such as pulse rate, body and skin temperature and blood pressure instruments for our unique biofeedback meal therapy sessions.
Our second dining/lunch area with a light, country style feeling for additional meals and private meal sessions and is home to the nutrition office.
Spacious, secure, and comfortable with a degree of flair. This room is the primary program room where most of the daily group and course activities take place. Designer lighting that allows for a change in the atmosphere, from energizing to relaxing . The room has a 50” flat screen television with full sound system for movie therapy, music therapy, and educational presentations. And there are specially designed areas to accommodate treatments including yoga, and body image therapy.
Loaded with art material and patient projects, this dedicated art therapy room features faux brick walls and graffiti-style inspirational quotes painted on the walls to promote a creative environment for clients to express themselves. A second group seating area is also present for pre and post-group processing. A group processing area is also a part of this room located at the entrance of the art room.
The Biolounge Suite compliments traditional medical and psychotherapeutic treatment methods by combining biofeedback training of the autonomic nervous system with mindfulness training, sound frequency healing, music therapy and guided imagery. The Biolounge integrates a practical and entertaining biofeedback program based on decades of scientific research on the psychophysiology of stress, emotions and interactions between the heart, the brain and the central nervous system. The program is a user-friendly interface that measures heart rate variability (HRV) with a finger pulse sensor, collecting and analyzing real-time data on the body’s reaction and performance. Additional components may be added to also measure parameters such as blood pressure and respiratory rate.
The ED-180 staff utilize another six offices at the facility that are all created to maintain the comforting style and relaxing environment found with the program. Individual and private therapy and special group therapies are also conducted in these offices occupied by psychiatrists, therapists, and nutritionist who are here full-time as well as visiting clinicians who participate in the program on a part-time basis.
Comfortable seating, relaxing sounds, aroma therapy, magazines about meditation and exotic travel and our African Chiclid aquarium can soothe anyone who arrives early or is waiting for their VIP. Aside from an abundance of flowers and plants, is our friendly and helpful office manager.
Members of the ED-180 program will have access to the in-house resource library filled with materials about eating disorders, mental health treatment, recovery and other books of inspiration and self-help. The library will have printed and audio books, as well as videos and movies that are pertinent to the ED-180 program. Some books and materials may be assigned by a health team member as a part of individual treatment or part of a group or course.
ED-180 conferences and meetings are located in the 400 Garden City Plaza building (right behind the 300 building) and will host lectures and events that are open to treatment providers and the public and hosted by senior health team members. These seminars will cover topics related to eating disorders and related psychological conditions. Presentations are designed to help clinicians to continuously improve upon their treatment by understanding the latest techniques and research on therapeutic, psychological, biological, medical, and epidemiological findings in the field.
