The meal and eating rehabilitation program for ED-180 is designed to give clients a return to a “normal” life that encompasses the ability to eat in a variety of situations. Similar to many of the top residential ED treatment facilities throughout the country, our program gives clients the opportunity to challenge themselves and learn to become comfortable once again with eating in different environments. We do not expect clients to “look forward” to their rehabilitation, but we do want to provide them with the best program for full-recovery.
Aside from our own Mosaic Dining Room, one of the best features of our office location is the abundance of eating opportunities that surround our offices and are only a short walk away. Program nutritionists also work with clients finding the best custom nutritional approach, from exchange meal plans to intuitive eating.
The cornerstone of our MMR program rest in our office’s Mosaic Dining Room, an elegant yet comfortable space for hot and cold meals. Here we have a variety of meal options including ordering meals in, bringing meals from home, having “ethnic” meal themes, and even having small buffets from chaffing dishes. Special didactic nutritional classes are also held here.
Located at 400 Garden City Plaza behind our offices, is a simple order-yourself deli with seating in the deli or brown paper bags to bring back to the Mosaic Dining Room. Experiential experiences prepare clients by allowing them to practice spontaneous ordering.
A bigger challenge for many is an excursion to the Roosevelt Field Mall across the street. The food court at this mall offers many types of food and seating in a public place that can be an obstacle to overcome.
From our offices, it is only a short walk to a variety of restaurants, with a variety of foods, and a variety of atmospheres from casual on up (no special dress codes required). The restaurant experience is one that must be a part of the MMR so clients can again participate with family and friends when dining out.
